Great to see this having just played Celeste for the first time recently. There's some weird added momentum in the jumping mechanic which makes it difficult to stick a landing with accuracy, though not bad for a game made in three days!
Would be nice if the composers on Celeste actually got paid after 2 years of not getting their fare share. Just sad... I will never buy or play another MMG game.
Please don't blame the dev team, they have nothing to do with this. Blame Materia Collective, who's responsible for the B-side soundtrack publishing and payment.
Do you really think that if it was the dev's team fault she would have participated in the creation of the soundtrack of THIS game? This, Celeste 2, that was made recently, and has her name on the opening screen?
Imagine having a full beautiful game like Celeste with these mechanics, like, literally Celeste 2? That would be great, a sequel with a new main character (which I love the design btw) I like to think both the Celeste Classic games were uploaded to see the community's opinion on it and maybe, just maybe, make a full game.
I think the new mechanic is really good, but it's not nearly as satisfying as the dash mechanic from Celeste, it's too strict and doesn't let you choose your path of flight, you can only go in a straight line, left or right and jump mid-air, which doesn't let the player be creative with where they want to go.
i don't know how did you make so excelent game as celeste, and at the same time you make so bad games like classic celeste and this. cycles, cycles, cycles, cycles, more cycles. character control is so unpleasant, i dunno. i hope if you will make an actual version of this, it will be good as celeste, but this is not funny
Are you comparing a 32kB Pico8 game with a 1200000kB Nintendo Switch game? And are you unaware that Celeste Classic is the original that Celeste was based on?
So there's definitely something up with sitting on the same screen (at least the grappling hook screen before you get it) for a long period of time. The screen shakes, timer stays up, and it fades in and out of a black screen every minute or so. Interested if there's any related secret or if it's just the "cartridge" having issues.
I didn't realize that numbers in pico-8 were 16 bit. After about 17 minutes this will happen. I've updated the game to solve the obvious overflows that I saw!
Gameplay wise there seems to be more systemic interaction (*****-ing the edge automatically *****-ses you) and of course you can interact with all sort of object in a systemic way with your ******.
All of this could lends to a more DK Country feel, and it does, it part. But mostly it opens up immense Puzzle opportunity.
And as someone else has probably said by now... I really hope you make a full-blown sequel out of this. (Or at the very least, add this to the PICO-8 easter egg in Celeste if you aren't going to make a full sequel out of it!)
for any speedrunners, in the level in golden valley where you have to follow a snowball along 2 platforms, if you grapple precisely as you bounce on the slight side of the snowball, and grapple jump, it launches you to the next level
don't have a method to, sry. I'm not really a speedrunner myself, just thought this was kind of interesting. basically in a simpler way, if you bounce on a snowball as you grapple, and do a grapple jump you get launched really far

Amazing game! I am a big fan of kaizo mario (if you haven't heard of it it is basically hard custom mario levels where you use items in cool ways), and I really liked how this used a lot of similar elements (like grabbing and throwing springs, or throwing the snowball and jumping off of it while it's moving).

Great small sequel to Celeste! Would be marvelous to see this expanded upon in the future :)
( more than half deaths are on that damn last strawberry D: )
Man, getting those last berries were tough. Amazing work!
I love it !!!
I really enjoyed this game. Thank you for making it.

I heard its the record label's fault for that, not the people who made the game
I thought they did. :L
They also got a lot of attention from the game :L

Your beef is with Materia Collective, not the Celeste development team.
Actually do some research.

Very fun game. I loved how such simple mechanics were used in many different ways.
finally got all the fruits!!! (edit: apparently i missed one lol) excellent game, especially for one that was made in 3 days :)
Fun game, happy anniversary!

I did it in 44 minutes and I don't regret anything.
Great Job on the 2 minutes!
Took me a little longer than most people here, but finished it nonethless!
Cool game, really well done!

The controls are just raw, I hope they make a full game just like Celeste using this awesome new mechanic

Did you try the version embedded in the browser, the downloadable version from here on Itchio or the cartridge from the official PICO-8 site?

This is amazing!
A very nice way to celebrate the 3rd anniversary. I had fun! Thanks for making this :) I wonder who we're playing as...

I don't exactly understand, could you please post a video of this boost ?
